We are recruiting two associate non-executive directors for Worcestershire Acute Hospitals NHS Trust. This is an exceptional opportunity to share your talents and expertise to make a positive difference to the lives of people in your community.
One associate non-executive director will shadow the Chair of the Audit and Assurance Committee and on that person’s retirement the role will become a substantive non-executive director and chair the Audit and Assurance Committee from 1 January 2018.
The second will support the board with their extensive strategic knowledge of HR which will have been gained within a large complex public or private sector organisation.
The Associate non-executive director role is used successfully in the NHS to support Board succession strategy and achieving a balance of Board level skills. Although not legally a member of the Board and does not participate in any formal vote, the individual is an integral member of the wider Board team-comprising executive and non-executive roles and attending Board and key committee meetings as required.

You will need to have a genuine commitment to patients and the promotion of excellent health care services. You will have senior or board level experience in one or more of the following areas:
- Finance – you should have
a current financial qualification and experience of managing finances in a
large and complex organisation.
Resources/organisational development – you will have extensive experience gained
within a large complex public or private sector organisation
You will need to be able to demonstrate you can use your experience to:
alongside other non-executives and executive colleagues as an equal member of
independence, external perspectives, skills, and challenge to strategy
the executive to account by providing purposeful, constructive scrutiny and
and actively support a healthy culture for the trust
All non-executive directors must champion the standards of public life – by upholding the highest standards of conduct and displaying the principles of selflessness, integrity, objectivity, accountability, openness, honesty, and leadership.
As a future NHS leader, the successful candidate will be able to demonstrate the range of behaviours required to contribute effectively in this board level role. These are outlined in the NHS Leadership Academy’s Healthcare Leadership Model.
