There are vacancies for two non-executive directors at University Hospitals Coventry and Warwickshire NHS Trust. This is an exceptional opportunity to share your talents and expertise to make a positive difference to the lives of people served by the Trust.
You will need to have a genuine commitment to patients and the promotion of excellent health care services.
We are seeking to appoint two non-executive board members and are particularly interested in candidates who can evidence expertise in one or more of the following areas:
- Experience from working in different sectors including the third sector especially at ‘grassroots’ and community level;
- Close links with and an understanding of the local communities we serve and actively engaged and well connected regionally;
- Specialist professional skills such as an accountancy qualification or evidence of financial leadership gained at or near board level. Previous experience in health can be useful but is not essential.

Candidates will need to demonstrate the ability to:
- Work alongside other non-executives and executive colleagues as an equal member of the board
- Bring independence, external perspectives, skills and challenge to strategy development
- Hold the executive to account by providing purposeful, constructive scrutiny and challenge
- Shape and actively support a healthy culture for the trust
Candidates will need to have:
- Excellent communication skills – an ‘active’ listener and able to communicate effectively on a wide social spectrum
- Strong interpersonal skills with empathy and compassion
- Able to influence to effect change and transformation through diplomacy, tenacity and communicating a compelling vision
- Proven governance, organisational and financial skills, including those relating to strategic planning, risk management and organisation-wide performance management
- An understanding of the challenges facing healthcare providers and UHCW in particular, in delivering high quality, safe services to patients that are clinically and financially sustainable
- An understanding of and commitment to the principles of equality and diversity
- An ability to demonstrate and role model at all times the Trust’s values and behaviours in their own behaviours and in relation to others.
