Hampshire trust to find ways to reduce waiting times for patients

We're supporting Hampshire Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust to reduce patients' waiting time in A&E

We'll help inform the hospital’s work to see patients in a more timely way and plan any further support that may be needed by the leadership of the trust. We want to make sure the trust’s leadership has the capacity and support to make the necessary changes quickly and effectively.

About the trust

The trust - which provides specialist and acute services to patients across Hampshire and West Berkshire - has not met the national standard of seeing 95% of patients in A&E within four hours for seven consecutive quarters and too many patients are waiting too long in A&E after the decision has been taken to admit them to a ward.

Our Emergency Care Improvement Team is also providing extra support to help the trust, and other health services in North Hampshire, improve the delivery of emergency services and reduce waiting times for patients.

Next steps

We'll be working closely with the trust’s leadership to make sure it has the tools it needs to reduce waiting times for patients and that it can make the necessary changes quickly.
