As an NHS Foundation Trust, we are accountable to the residents across Blackpool, Fylde, Wyre and North Lancashire and the Non-executive Directors are formally appointed by the Council of Governors. The Trust enjoys a strong working relationship with other local stakeholders and, together, we are working on delivering an ambitious Integrated Care Partnership plan.

The Trust now wishes to recruit a replacement Clinical Non-executive Director to the Board. The role of Clinical Non-Executive Director will be to support the Board of Directors in providing an independent clinical view on the Trust’s Strategy and Quality Strategy and to oversee the Trust implementation of national strategies and regulatory compliance from a quality perspective. Previous Non-executive experience would be an advantage but not essential as we will support NEDs with a continuous development programme.

As a Non-executive Director you will be required to:

  • Inspire confidence of the public, patients and our staff through compliance with the ‘fit and proper persons’ checklist
  • Demonstrate a genuine commitment to improving services for our patients
  • Proactively contribute to the values based culture of our organisation

You will also need to be able to demonstrate you can use your experience to:

  • Work alongside other non-executives and executive colleagues as an equal member of the board
  • Bring independence, external perspectives, skills and challenge to strategy development
  • Hold the executive to account by providing purposeful, constructive scrutiny and challenge
  • Shape and actively support a healthy culture for the Trust.

Also important is your innate ability to understand local needs and the drive to effect positive change, which you will achieve through collaborative persuasion and enthusiasm for the cause.
