Derbyshire Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust is a leading provider of mental health, learning disabilities, substance misuse and children’s services in Derby city and Derbyshire county, delivering services to a population of approximately 1 million people. We employ over 2,400 staff based in over 60 locations across the whole of Derbyshire and have an annual turnover of around £130 million.
Financially stable, we are committed to continued service transformation and collaborative working, creating a progressive organisation that puts the patient at the centre of everything that we do. Our philosophy of ‘Better Together’ reflects our ethos of collaborative working, with our service users, carers, partners and staff to collectively improve health and wellbeing.
We are an organisation with
strong positive values and culture and are looking for a new Non-Executive
Director to chair the Audit and Risk Committee and take an active part in other
Board Committees (including the Finance and Performance and Remuneration and
Appointments Committee). This is an
exceptional opportunity to share your talent and expertise, and bring an
independent perspective to the boardroom, providing the appropriate oversight,
governance and leadership to the Trust, whilst at the same time making a
positive difference to the lives of people in your community.
You will need to have a genuine interest in healthcare issues, including mental health, and a commitment to patients and the promotion of excellent health care services. You will uphold the highest standards of integrity, probity of financial, clinical and other information, and that the financial and clinical quality controls and systems of risk management are robust and defensible.
This role requires a strong financial background with a clear understanding of financial reporting, and Non-Executive Director or Board-level experience gained in a large, complex private or public sector board organisation, ideally in a regulated industry.
Accustomed to high levels of accountability, you will demonstrate inspirational, ethical leadership. You will be confident in scrutinising the performance of management in meeting agreed goals and objectives in accordance with board procedures and monitor the reporting of performance. You will have credibility and the ability to bring an independent perspective to the boardroom, providing appropriate oversight, governance and leadership to the Trust in the pursuit of its strategies to provide effective and high quality healthcare services.
Above all we expect to appoint a Non-Executive Director who will support the Chair, Non-Executive Directors and Executive Directors in promoting the Trust and someone who can demonstrate commitment to our values – always putting patients at the centre of everything we do, providing respectful and responsive care, working with integrity, honesty and trust and in partnership to deliver effective and efficient services.
