Take part in our Burdett-funded study into the impact of shadowing
We are looking for acute trusts to participate in a study into the impact of shadowing on the confidence and effectiveness of newly appointed ward leaders (band 7).
The aim of this study, a joint project with King’s College London, is to determine whether a peer shadowing programme is an effective model for developing ward leaders as nursing leaders in general medical/surgical acute wards.
New licence condition for NHS-controlled providers
We are introducing a new provider licence condition for NHS-controlled providers. Providers that meet the definition of an NHS-controlled provider need to ensure that from 1 April 2018 they are appropriately licensed.
Webinar: Model Hospital masterclass – understanding procurement

Webinar series: NHS70 youth volunteering
As part of NHS70, the celebration of 70 years of the NHS, we are working with NHS England to encourage the development of youth volunteering. To support the campaign there is a series of interactive webinars until May 2018.
The February sessions will cover youth volunteering case studies and March will cover recruiting and managing young volunteers.
Demand and capacity training programme: applications open 26 February
Our demand and capacity programme is designed to develop organisations’ knowledge and skills in demand and capacity modelling, to help reduce waiting times for patients. The programme equips staff to train others and spread knowledge more widely at a local level.
Deadline for applications for trusts in the North East is 25 March 2018.
Delayed Transfers of Care (DToC) event – South region
Tuesday 6 March 2018, 9.30am – 4pm
We’re holding an event for the South region in Reading on 6 March, focusing on tackling the issue of delayed discharges.
Recognising that this is a complex issue requiring system-based solutions, the event has been designed to look at the challenges both inside and outside of hospital which create delayed discharges.
The event is open to executives in providers and CCGs and local authority leaders.

Emergency response communications review
Heads of communications are asked to complete a government-led survey into emergency response communications across the public sector by 11 March. This will form part of the wider review and inform future emergency communications response, planning and training.
