For information

Changes to the patient safety alerts process

All organisations that issue national patient safety alerts will soon be required to use a single, standardised safety alert template. The new template will help you meet the agreed criteria of common standards and thresholds developed by the National Patient Safety Alerting Committee and support you to take the necessary steps to tackle safety-critical issues raised in an alert.

Please check your central alerting system for further information on what action you will need to take as a result of the changes.

New platform for public sector payments

GOV.UK Pay offers a simple, secure and compliant way to take and manage online payments from NHS service users. It also provides a way of assisting cost recovery from overseas visitor debt — saving you time and money. The payment platform can be used across all areas, including for salary overpayments, courses run by trusts and for private patient income.

Please integrate this platform with your existing merchant services and actively encourage your treasury and finance teams to do the same. For further information on using GOV.UK Pay, please email kirsty.armstrong@digital.cabinet-office.gov.uk.
