Updated information around continuity of medicines supply if there is a no-deal EU exit
The information for patients on nhs.uk around continuity of medicines supply if there is a no-deal EU exit has been updated. The FAQs for clinicians on the NHS England website have also been updated. Please share this information with your staff so they can pass this information on to patients.
The Department of Health and Social Care has also published updated operational guidance for healthcare providers and commissioners — setting out the actions that should be taken before and after we leave the EU.
Business intelligence overseas visitor dashboard
Our Overseas Visitor Improvement Team has collaborated with NHS Shared Business Services to create a new business intelligence (BI) dashboard. It provides the data required to correctly complete the Overseas Visitors Debtor position in the monthly provider finance return.
Please integrate this dashboard with your existing BI reporting and encourage your finance teams to do the same.
Patient level costing collections for 2019/20 — mental health
As noted in our mandation project in February 2019, mental health service cost data for 2019/20 will be collected at a patient level in 2020 (except for community NHS providers).
Please make sure:
Submission of patient level costing data and compliance with the standards is a requirement of the provider licence. If you have any issues, please email email@example.com.
Data on patient safety incident reporting and how we use incident reports to improve safety
We have published our latest bi-annual official statistics on patient safety incidents reported to the National Reporting and Learning System (NRLS) by each NHS trust between October 2018 and March 2019, and provide national patterns and trends on incident reporting between April 2018 and March 2019.
You can also download tailored reports on individual reporting patterns for October 2018 to March 2019 via the NRLS explorer tool. These reports have been created to support you to analyse and improve your reporting culture.
We have also published our sixth patient safety review and response report, showing how we used incident reports to identify and address ‘under-recognised’ safety issues between October 2018 and March 2019.
Response and recommendations to the NHS Long Term Plan legislative proposals
The NHS Long Term Plan included suggested changes to the law to help with faster implementation. This spring, NHS staff, partner organisations and members of the public were invited to give their views on our proposals.
We have published our response to the views we received and set out our recommendations to the government and Parliament for an NHS bill. This bill could help deliver improved patient care by removing barriers and promoting collaboration between NHS organisations and their partners
Go back to school and drive improvements with your own online learning course
