For action

Confirm mitigation of cyber security risks

Following the cyber security alert issued by NHS Digital (accessible only through the NHS network) about Microsoft Windows remote desktop services, all IT and cyber security staff with access to the CareCERT Collect portal need to apply a set of changes to fix vulnerabilities to the system by 5pm Wednesday 28 August.

If your team cannot apply a patch by the deadline, but have another mitigation in place, this must be signed off by the Chief Executive Officer and Senior Information Risk Owner and updated on the portal by your IT team.

Implementing personalised care — new finance, commissioning and contracting handbook

This new handbook will help you to understand what expanding personalised care means locally, with practical tools and recommendations to enable sustainable change. It includes support with implementing the six components of personalised care and guidance on agreeing meaningful data and metrics and funding models for contracting personalised care.

In her blog, Sue Bottomley, NHS England’s Head of Finance, Contracting and Commissioning for Personalised Care, shares tips on how the handbook can enable personalised care locally.

Updated guidance on the Commissioner Assignment Method (CAM)

To ensure data can be well-managed as it is generated daily across the NHS, we’ve updated this guidance to enable clear identification of which organisation has delivered an episode of healthcare, and which organisation has payment responsibility.

The 2019/20 guidance provides a robust version of the CAM algorithm to make sure these requirements are met — by providing an interpretation of the most likely organisation that will be responsible for care, based on routinely collected data.

Providing high-quality care for people with progressive neurological conditions

The RightCare progressive neurological conditions toolkit supports commissioners to review local pathways and identify where improvements could be delivered. It can also help your staff better manage and support patients with neurological conditions closer to home — ensuring they get the right care, at the right time.

Have your say on information governance guidance

NHSX wants to bring published guidance on information governance in health and care together to make sure any new guidance focuses on the topics most important to you and your workforce.

Share your views on what you think this guidance should include, to make sure it’s as helpful as possible.
