Submit your board assessment framework for seven day hospital services

We are asking all acute trusts to submit your self-assessed board assurance framework to regional teams by 5pm Friday 28 June.This measures the delivery of seven day hospital services against the seven day hospital clinical standards.

This marks the full implementation of the board assurance framework following a trial run earlier this year. National guidance and Q&As are available and our regional teams will support you with this process.

Productivity benchmarking metrics for community mental health services

With these new Model Mental Health metrics, you can analyse your productivity data for the first time and look for improvement opportunities. Sign up or log in to view your data

We are also looking for ambassadors for the Model Mental Health services. Help champion change within your trust and improve productivity and efficiency through learning from peers. Please email nhsi.modelhospital@nhs.net for more information.

Community services operating model guidance

The new community services operating model guidance will help you to assess the performance of your current access processes and identify improvement opportunities.  

The first section of the guidance will help you improve the delivery of community-based services, patient care and workforce productivity. The referrals and single points of access section will help you improve waiting times, patient flow and quality of care.  

Commissioning for quality and innovation (CQUIN)

CQUIN: Implementing three high-impact actions to prevent hospital falls

You can now access the new local audit data collection tool, and watch the advice and FAQs presentation, to assist you with implementing and working towards CQUIN ‘Three high impact actions to prevent hospital falls’. The tool will support you with your local case note audit in preparation for the uploads to the national CQUIN collection starting in July.

CQUIN: 2019/20 indicator specification

The CCG CQUIN indicator specification has been updated and re-published, and provides further clarifications on payment rules and inclusion of additional resources for certain indicators.

Learning from deaths webinar

Join this webinar to explore implementation of learning from deaths in community and mental health settings and share ideas and good practice.  

You will have the opportunity to hear from the Medical Directors at Worcestershire Health and Care NHS Trust and North East London NHS Foundation Trust and to gain an overview of national analysis of 2018 quality accounts.  

NHS national commercial directors meeting

Monday 10 June, 10am-3pm, London

This meeting will focus on developing and improving management of private patient services, and is for chief finance directors, commercial directors and senior managers responsible for commercial and private patient income.

You will hear from leaders in NHS private patient unit strategy, planning and operations, and you will also have the chance to share experiences and network.

This multi-disciplinary, evidence-based system supports safe staffing decisions in mental health organisations.

It is designed to guide chief nurses and ward-based clinicians and is free to NHS providers. The MHOST is one of a suite of optimal staffing tools, including tools for adult in-patient wards, acute medical units and children and young people’s wards.
