Agency price caps update: interim very senior manager pay

We wrote to you last week to let you know we’ve introduced a new approval process for the procurement of interim very senior managers (VSMs) to help you reduce your agency spend.

From October 31, you’ll be required to get prior approval from us before hiring agency VSMs earning more than £750 per day or to extend an existing contract.

To request approval, please complete a business case approval form and email it to

Approval will be given to business cases that clearly demonstrate maximum value for money against the set of assessment criteria outlined in the approval process note.

Templates for creating your Local Safety Standards for Invasive Procedures (LocSSIPs)

We’ve developed two templates to support you in developing Local Safety Standards for Invasive Procedures (LocSSIPs) based on the National Safety Standards for Invasive Procedures.

There’s no requirement to use these templates if you’ve developed your own or prefer a different approach.

If you've developed your own procedures, please email them to so we can share them on our website to promote learning and good practice.
