Staff flu immunisation campaign
This year’s NHS staff flu vaccination campaign materials will be published this month to help you communicate the importance of staff vaccination. The campaign toolkit will include briefing notes and communications resources which you can adapt to fit local needs.
Please ask flu lead colleagues in your organisation to register to receive information about the campaign and order free materials.
Medicines and medical products supply: Government updates no-deal EU Exit plans
The Government has confirmed further details of how it will maintain the supply of medicines and medical products in the event of a no-deal EU Exit. These include procurement exercises to secure extra freight capacity, continuing the build-up of buffer stocks, securing extra warehouse space and a range of additional measures.
Launch of the NHS Patient Safety Strategy
The first national NHS Patient Safety Strategy has been launched. It sets a vision for continuous safety improvement, underpinned by a safety culture and effective safety systems.
The strategy emphasises the need to support staff and look at systems rather than blaming individuals when incidents occur. Key features include a safety syllabus and training for all staff, a new incident management system, patient involvement and a national patient safety improvement programme.
Making data count — strengthening your decisions
Our new guide will strengthen your confidence in using statistical process control (SPC) charts — helping you to make the very best use of your data by working through the scenarios and exercises.
You’ll find videos from people working in the NHS about the benefits of moving to SPC, as well as tips on how to pull out key messages and guidance on when and how process limits should be recalculated.
Opportunity to build quality and service improvement capability
The latest QSIR College (quality, service improvement and redesign) cohort applications are now open. you can apply as an organisation or health system to build sustainable quality and service improvement capacity.
QSIR College prepares and accredits NHS staff to teach QSIR programmes to other staff within their organisations, or across their health system. The deadline for applications is 5pm Friday 19 July.
