Urgent patient safety improvements needed at Southern Health

We intend to put an additional condition in the trust’s licence to provide NHS services.

Following a Care Quality Commission (CQC) warning notice issued today, we intend to put an additional condition in Southern Health NHS Foundation Trust’s licence to provide NHS services to ensure it makes patient safety improvements and which would allow us to make management changes at the trust if it doesn’t make progress on fixing the concerns raised.

A recent CQC inspection identified patient safety concerns which have still gone unaddressed at the trust. Its warning notice highlights a number of improvements the trust needs to make.

The trust has the opportunity to respond to us before we make a final decision on whether to put the additional condition in its licence.

14 April 2016: We’ve put an additional condition on the trust’s licence to provide NHS services, following a warning notice being issued by Care Quality Commission (CQC).
