Dr Ferris joined us as a Non-Executive Director on 1 August 2018.
Dr Ferris is the Chief Executive of Massachusetts General Physicians Organization (MGPO) in Boston, United States. He is a practicing primary care physician with over 26 years’ clinical experience specialising in internal medicine and paediatrics. He enjoys visiting his patients in their homes.
As the Senior Vice President of Population Health at Partners HealthCare, a network of hospitals and physicians in Boston, Dr Ferris led the design and implementation of system-wide care delivery changes to respond to the changing health care environment —enhancing care delivery, increasing access to care, and reducing the health care cost burden. In this role he directed partners’ participation in accountable care organisation (ACO) contracts for Medicare patients (Pioneer ACO and Next Generation ACO), commercial contracts focused on employed populations, and Medicaid contracts focused on the underserved and disabled patients. He is a Professor at Harvard Medical School and holds degrees from Middlebury College, Oxford University, Harvard Medical School, and the Harvard School of Public Health.
Dr Ferris has over 100 publications in the areas of healthcare quality measurement, risk adjustment, population management, and information technology. He has served on multiple committees in the United States, including for the National Academy of Medicine (NAM), Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality (AHRQ) and National Quality Forum (NQF). He has served as a consultant to the Congressional Research Service, National Governor's Association, the World Health Organization, and the Institute for Healthcare Improvement.
He is an advisor to the US Secretary of Health and Human Services as a member of an independent advisory committee on physician payment policy. He is currently also a director of Health Catalyst, LLC.
