Aspiring medical director programme

(0)

We have designed this programme with the NHS Leadership Academy to provide developmental support to those considered to have the potential to take on a medical director role.

About the programme

This is a fully-funded leadership development programme for those aspiring to a medical director role in the near future.

This programme will enable you to tackle the broad range of challenges medical directors encounter including board level interactions, performance management of colleagues and dealing with the media. There will also be insights into the application process, the wider NHS landscape and system leadership. The 2019 programme will involve four sessions, each incorporating an action learning set and workshop, with content delivered by an experienced medical director or subject matter expert.

The programme will provide space for candidates to reflect on their leadership journey, their development needs and will seek to assist in their career development.

We expect, where possible, attendance at all four sessions to ensure the sustainability and integrity of the action learning sets are maintained and so that participants can gain maximum benefit from the programme.

There are three cohorts for the 2019 programme, one cohort for colleagues based in the North, another cohort for colleagues in the Midlands and East and one cohort for colleagues in London and the South.
