Creating successful, satisfying and sustainable careers in Emergency Departments

The Royal College of Emergency Medicine has produced guidance to help organisations engage and retain their emergency department (ED) workforce in an energised, positive and productive way ahead of winter.

These guides discuss flexible ways of working and good rota designs for EDs, health and wellbeing, and how to engage those working in EDs.

These guides should be used in conjunction with wider strategies to improve care and processes for patients in the ED — such as having clear escalation protocols, reducing unnecessary delays for patients and minimising the use of inappropriate physical spaces in the ED.
