Creating a sustainable workforce model for support workers

This case study shows how the Northern Devon Healthcare NHS Trust developed a new workforce strategy to reduce staff turnover, with a focus on healthcare support workers (HCSW).

The trust identified their workforce requirements and used this data to develop a new workforce strategy where staff felt valued. Successful implementation of the strategy led to significant improvements in the retention of HCSWs and the eventual elimination of agency HCSW use.
