Engaging, supporting and valuing doctors in training

Providers demonstrate how they've developed innovative solutions to improve the working environment for doctors in training.

Reports from the Royal College of Physicians, General Medical Council and Health Education England have commented on the impact that non-contractual issues facing doctors in training are having on morale and the patient experience. Such issues include low levels of engagement, lack of support and well-being initiatives and increasing pressure of work.

We've worked with providers to share examples of where they have taken positive steps in tacking these issues. These case studies offer a practical guide to better engage, support and value doctors in training.

If your organisation has taken positive steps to improve the working environment for doctors in training, you can share your work with us. Please email your case to nhsi.medicaldirectorate@nhs.net.
