This case study explores how a retention improvement strategy can be implemented in a trust undergoing major change.

North Essex Partnership and South Essex Partnership Foundation Trusts merged in April 2017, and so they faced new and different struggles going forward. The solutions they implemented include: 

  • commitment from the executive team to meet frontline staff face to face to ensure visibility
  • producing new values and aligning communication
  • emphasising the merger’s non-financial benefits in order to emphasise new and exciting opportunities for current staff
