Measuring safety culture in maternal and neonatal services — using safety culture insight to support quality improvement

This document gives insight from safety culture surveys of maternal and neonatal staff at 87 provider trusts across England, carried out as part of the maternal and neonatal health safety collaborative.

It explains the benefit of evaluating and understanding safety culture as an enabler to successful quality improvement, and gives an overview of the insight from the surveys. It also suggests interventions that can be undertaken to improve culture, and behaviours leaders and team members can adopt to support a culture where safety can flourish.
