Understanding our current workforce is critical for day-to-day operational management, but also critical for planning for the future workforce to ensure the right staff, with the right skills are in the right place at the right time. ESR is the means by which the workforce is recorded and counted. As with other staff groups, it is critical the NHS can understand the current position and direction of the AHP workforce and report on it reliably at a local, regional and national level.
