NHS Employers: using data to improve nurse turnover

Working collaboratively, staff from Buckinghamshire Healthcare NHS Trust used data to reduce nurse turnover by 2 per cent and the costs relating to recruitment of temporary and agency staff.

Along with the knowledge the trust had high nurse turnover, staff reviewed additional data to better understand the needs of the nursing workforce, and how this correlated with nurses’ reasons for leaving. This informed an action plan with key priorities to make improvements.
