The NHS Long Term Plan

(1)

The NHS has set out a long term plan for the future of the NHS, setting out our ambitions for improvement over the next decade, and our plans to meet them over the five years of the funding settlement.

On Monday 7 January 2019 we published the NHS Long Term Plan — setting out our shared agenda for the next five and ten years.

Many trust and CCG chief executives and clinical staff have led its development. The result is a practical and realistic set of changes to the health service which should both bring about some important improvements in care quality and outcomes, while also tackling the pressures staff face.

The publication of the plan is one important milestone. We now need to work to deliver these improvements and make the NHS Long Term Plan a reality — this is what will make a real difference for patients and staff.
