Non-executive appointments

We appoint chairs and non-executive directors of NHS trusts and NHS charities, supporting them to find talented people with the skills and experience to help run vital NHS services for their local community.

The NHS Trust Development Authority has been responsible for around 650 chair and non-executive appointments to NHS trusts and around 60 NHS charitable trustees.  The Secretary of State for Health has the power to make these appointments but has delegated this to the NHS Trust Development Authority since 1 October 2012.

Since 1 April 2016, we have taken on this responsibility.
