Actions to support system wide antimicrobial stewardship - as opposed to that based in an individual clinical commissioning group (CCG) or provider.

Action: prepare plan

Establish a whole health economy stewardship group and action planning.

Action: consider immunisation strategy

Review the need for an immunisation strategy that includes the monitoring and review of vaccine uptake across the system. Ensure that the local variances are reviewed and that action planning is in place to ensure uptake is above or at nationally set parameters.

Action: align system frailty plans

Ensure that the system frailty plans are aligned with the principles of antibiotic stewardship. Working with commissioners to ensure services are commissioned to prevent infection in at risk groups.

Action: sepsis training and support

Ensure that all providers have the appropriate training and support to assess, identify and manage patients with sepsis.
