10 minute medical emergency team meetings


Brighton and Sussex University Hospitals Trust holds a brief meeting at the start of every shift to ensure that the Medical Emergency Team and Cardiac Arrest Team can meet and define roles, in preparation for emergency calls coming through.

The teams working together will change on every shift so the 10 minute meetings give everyone a chance to meet and prepares all members for the shift ahead. In the video staff outline what they get out of the meetings including:

  • feeling less stressed as a result of being more prepared
  • improved leadership
  • reduced chaos of working in a busy department
  • get to know the team
  • improving patient experience and safety
